Protect Your MOST Valuable Asset 💰 (It’s NOT What You Think).

Updated: Mar 19

Today, we discuss the importance of protecting your most valuable asset in retirement. Hint: It’s NOT your 401K, your Home or your RV.

Recently I've been pondering the kind of sustainable lifestyle that truly speaks to me. As I sift through the possibilities, a question gnawed at me: am I neglecting something crucial in my retirement planning?"

Now, I know what you might be thinking. "Isn't my savings account, or my house, or maybe even my Airstream my most valuable asset?" And while those things are definitely important and can add to a long and happy retirement, I would argue that none of them even come close to your health.

Think about it. Your health is what allows you to enjoy all the other things in life, whether it's spending time with loved ones, exploring new places, or simply living each day to the fullest. Without good health, all those other things become a lot harder, if not impossible, to truly appreciate.

That's why I try to focus on a sustainable lifestyle that emphasizes  the importance of maintaining good health throughout your retirement years. It's not just about living longer; it's about living a life that's filled with quality, joy, and all the experiences you've been dreaming of.

So, how can you ensure you stay healthy and vibrant in your retirement years? Here are a few tips that I've found helpful:

  • First and foremost, get moving! Regular exercise is crucial, whether it's running, lifting weights, kayaking, hiking, or whatever gets you going. Find something you enjoy and make it a part of your daily routine.

  • Sleep is your superpower! I’ll admit this is an area that I still need to improve, but I do aim for eight hours of quality sleep each night. When you're well-rested, you have more energy, focus, and overall well-being.

  • Fuel your body right. Nourish yourself with a healthy diet that's moderate in portion size and helps you maintain a healthy weight. Remember, you are what you eat!

  • Don't underestimate the power of social connection. Strong relationships with friends and family provide love, support, and a sense of belonging, all of which are essential for both your mental and physical health.

  • Stress less, live more! Find healthy ways to manage stress, whether it's through exercise, relaxation techniques like meditation or Bible study and prayer, or simply spending quality time with loved ones.

  • Discover your purpose. Having a sense of purpose in life, whether it's volunteering, pursuing a hobby, or starting a new business, can give you a sense of fulfillment and contribute to your overall health and well-being.

Remember, your health is truly your most valuable asset in retirement. By taking these steps and prioritizing your well-being, you're investing in a future filled with vibrant health, happiness, and the ability to make the most of your golden years. Now go out there and live your best life!
